Every check and raise, even the speed with which you act, contributes to that narrative.

But remember, you’re the author of this story. When bluffing, it’s your responsibility to craft a narrative that’s so believable, your competitors would never question it. 

To do that, you need to be consistent. For instance, if you raised pre-flop, then placed a c-bet on the flop, it makes sense for you to fire off another bet in the final round. If you were to simply check, people could grow suspicious of your sudden passivity and call your bluff.

Size Your Bets Strategically

Have a Look at Competitors Screen Names

While screen names may seem like nothing more than an alias, they can actually tell you a lot about your online poker competitors. In some cases, they can even give you an idea of how likely they are to bluff.

A prime example is one of the most successful poker players of all time, Di “Urindanger” Dang. Intimidating and bold, the username “Urindanger” (i.e. you’re in danger) conveys a great deal about the player himself, who’s known for his aggressive playstyle. If you were going up against this player, you could likely expect him to make bold bluffs as a means of scaring off his competition. With that in mind, it might be worth calling their more supersized bets, especially if you’ve got a strong hand with great odds of winning the pot.
