Ignition Mystery Knockout Tournaments Explained

Knockout players to win random bounties and grind your way to a luxury estate

Starting July 22^nd, 2024, an exciting new poker tournament format is hitting the Ignition Casino lobby: Mystery Knockout tournaments. While classic knockout tournaments feature fixed bounties, these games will offer random bounties. They could be a little; they could be a lot. You’ll have to whack someone to find out.

The new tournaments will also take you on your own mafia-inspired rags to riches story. You’ll start on the streets with the other thugs and wannabes, become a made man and join a crew, and finally reach the heights with the other capos.

Who knows? You could be a boss someday if you play your cards right.

How it works

When you enter a MKO tournament, 50% of your buy-in goes towards the standard prize pool and the other 50% goes towards the bounty prize pool. Then, players will go through three phases. No prizes are available in Phase 1. Bounties activate in Phase 2, so be sure to last through the first third of the tournament! At this time, you will also be able to see the total bounty prize pool. The standard payouts will also be displayed in the tournament lobby as in all other poker tournaments once late registration begins.

What’s the story?

Each phase tells a part of the story as players battle to make it off the streets, into the crew, and to the top of the game.

Phase 1: The back-alley grind begins…

As players reach their first table, they will find that there are new surroundings than the ones they are used to at Ignition Casino. You’ll see a cobblestone street, complete with manholes, barrels, and sixers of beer to quench your thirst. The table itself is made from discarded wood that has been fastened together so that the gang could have a place to play poker. Nearby, the chalk outline lets everyone know that things can go very wrong here on the streets.

Just like a UFC fight, you’ll have to protect yourself at all times. You’re not in the money and there’s no bounties yet. You’re all just hopefuls with a dollar and a dream.

Phase 2: Moving into the meetup spot

Congrats. You’ve made it. You’re part of the crew. You’re a made guy and you are in the money.

We’ve left the streets behind and are in a proper room. The accommodations are humble, but at least we’re not out in the streets anymore. There’s a little vino available, and the sack of money nearby shows that a recent caper was a success. And what’s that spill over there? Is it wine, or something else?

Hey! Mind your business.

Now that you’re part of “this thing of ours,” you’re also entitled to bounties for any other players you eliminate. Send someone to sleep with the fishes and you’ll get a mystery bounty amount. It’s like getting a little cash from the captains above you for a job well done. Keep your head on a swivel and collect all the bounties you can. For a player who makes all the right moves, the sky’s the limit.

But if you go all in at the wrong time?

Arrivederci.

Phase 3: Mama, we made it. This is the big time.

If you can outlast all the conniving, backstabbing, and politicking, you’ll make it to the final table. You might be tempted to relax in those gorgeous leather chairs. You might be tempted to enjoy a nice glass of scotch from the glass decanter. But you’d be a fool to let your guard down. You’ll be up against 8 other players who are sure to have their eyes on the boss’s seat. You’re captains now – heads of your own crews. It’s time to show them what you’re made of.

Don’t insult the wrong person, or that pile of spent bullet casings could grow a little bigger.

Play your best poker. The heads of the other families will be watching you. Soon, you could be sitting among them as an equal.

What else is different?

Mystery Knockout tournaments feature a few of their own flourishes and pieces of flair. There are new in-chat emojis, card designs, animations, sounds, and in-table messages. It’s a whole new experience that will immerse you in a world that few are ever privy to unless they’re watching a movie.
